MEMPHIS, TN: Man charged with sex trafficking at West Palm Beach hotel

Derrion Kirby of Memphis traveled across state lines with at least two adult women to sell them for sex, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says.

A Memphis, Tenn., man was charged Saturday with human trafficking after police say they found an 18-year-old woman in a motel room on Okeechobee Boulevard being held against her will.

Derrion Devedrick Kirby was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on 2 counts of sex trafficking adults and 2 counts of living off the proceeds of prostitution. He is being held on $220,000 bail.

After interviews at the motel near Florida’s Turnpike, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s detectives said they found Kirby had traveled through several states with at least two women, arranging to sell them for sex and taking all the money. Kirby would threaten violence and withhold the victims’ documents as a means of control, PBSO said in a news release.
