KNOXVILLE - March 24, 2016 - Man faces 22 new charges for solicitation of minors

A Knoxville man was indicted on 22 new charges Wednesday of soliciting minors for sex.

Patrick C. McCoy, 59, was indicted by a Knox County grand jury on 22 additional counts of solicitation of minors to engage in certain sexual contact. He was previously arrested on the same charge in July 2015 after an investigation by the Knoxville Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Arrest records from July 2015 allege McCoy was attempting to solicit sexual acts for money from a minor over the phone. An undercover officer contacted the phone number and spoke with a man, who police say was McCoy, who agreed to engage in sexual acts with a 12-year-old boy in exchange for $100 cash. The continuing investigation, according to Knoxville police, revealed he had engaged in this type of behavior 22 previous times.
